In 1991 I received my first flute as a gift in a traditional circle by an Aztec Flute player and I was told to learn how to play.
I was later taught some traditional Iroquois songs by an Onondaga Elder of the Six Nations territory.
I received a grant from the Canada Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council to study traditional native flute music with Ed Wapp, Comanche/Sac Fox, one of the greatest Native American Traditional flute players alive today in Santa Fe, New Mexico, who teaches at the Institute of American Indian Arts.
The songs I play on the traditional Native American Flute are both contemporary and traditional. I have just finished a compilation of 13 songs for my first CD entitled “Mohawk Flute Songs”, produced by myself, David Miller and Vaughn Passmore whom I have worked with for over 13 years now.
I am a drummer, singer, flute player and I also play a Tama drum kit.
I feel my music is for Healing, Giving Thanks, Honouring our Sacred Mother Earth and Great Mystery. But most of all I have learned to sing after Thanksgiving ceremonies the way our old elders teach us when we thank Creation, the Spirit World, Creator and for Honour Songs.
I an honoured to be part of the struggle for environmental protection Our Sacred Mother Earth, Justice, Peace and North American Native Culture by working with all forms of communication and the leaders of North America/ Turtle Island
